Terms & Conditions

These Terms govern your use of the ScanPlay website, studio and player at scanplay.in ("Service"). By creating an account or buying credits you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

ScanPlay lets you link a printed image ("target photo") with a video and generates a QR code. When the QR is scanned, or the ScanPlay camera is opened, and the phone camera is pointed at the target photo, the video plays on top of it in the phone's browser or the ScanPlay app. Recognition depends on the quality of the printed image, lighting and the phone camera; we do not guarantee recognition in every condition.

2. Accounts

• You must provide a valid email address and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
• You must be 18 or older, or use the Service under supervision of a parent or guardian.
• We may suspend accounts that breach these Terms or are used for unlawful content.

3. Credits, free credits and payment

• Credits. You buy credits in Indian Rupees from an authorised ScanPlay distributor or promoter, or through Razorpay on scanplay.in. Online buying on scanplay.in opens in short sale windows (each window lasts one hour); when it is closed you can check back later or buy from a partner near you. Prices include GST where it applies. We do not store your card or UPI details. There are no subscriptions and nothing renews automatically. Bought credits do not expire.
• Credits per photo. Each photo you save uses credits according to its type. The credits and phone limits of each type are shown in the Studio before you save. At the date above: Personal 1 credit (up to 50 different phones a month), Business 5 credits (up to 300 different phones a month), Big advertising 20 credits (unlimited phones). The number of scans is not limited. ScanPlay recognises the type from the photo and does not save a photo for fewer credits than the type it recognises.
• Phone limit. Phones are counted per calendar month from the 1st (India time). If more different phones scan a photo in a month than its type allows, the photo pauses until the 1st of the next month, or you can move it to the next type by using the extra credits shown in the Studio.
• How long a photo plays. A paid photo plays for 1 year from the day it is added (or activated). After that it stops and the photo and its video are deleted.
• Free credits. Accounts with no bought credits receive 2 free credits a day. Unused free credits end at midnight (India time) and are not added up. Distributors and promoters do not receive free credits. A photo saved with a free credit plays for 24 hours from its first scan, on a limited number of phones (shown in the Studio), and is then deleted. You can make it a paid photo with "Activate", which uses the credits of its type.
• Distributors and promoters also follow their signed partner agreement.
• Prices and credits per type may change; changes apply to future purchases and photos saved after the change. Refunds: see the Refund Policy.

4. Your content

• You keep all rights to the photos and videos you upload. You grant ScanPlay a licence to store, process and display them solely to provide the Service.
• You are solely and entirely responsible for everything you upload — including making sure it is genuine, accurate, lawful, and does not mislead or deceive any viewer. ScanPlay does not review, verify, fact-check or endorse any content before or after it is uploaded, and makes no representation or warranty about its truth, origin, ownership or legality.
• You confirm you own the content, or have full permission from the owner, to upload and display it — including any music, faces, logos, trademarks or other people's likeness in it — and that doing so does not infringe or violate any person's or organisation's rights.
• You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ScanPlay Media Pvt Ltd, its owners and staff against any claim, loss, damage, fine or legal cost arising from content you upload, including claims brought by a viewer, a person shown in the content, or a rights holder.
• Prohibited: illegal, sexually explicit, hateful, defamatory, fraudulent, impersonating or infringing content; content depicting minors in any sexual context; malware. Uploads are checked automatically and nude, semi-nude or sexual photos are refused. We may remove such content and terminate the account without refund, and we are not liable for any resulting loss.

5. Viewers

Anyone with a QR code or link can view the associated video. Do not use ScanPlay for content that must remain private.

6. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but the Service is provided "as is" without warranty of uninterrupted operation. We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice. Third-party components (browser AR libraries, payment gateway, hosting) are outside our control.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, ScanPlay Media Pvt Ltd's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 3 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, or losses caused by printing errors, poor image quality or viewer devices.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time in the Studio ("Delete my account" at the bottom, confirmed with a code sent by email) or by contacting us. Unused credits end with the account. We may terminate accounts for breach. Sections 4, 7 and 9 survive termination.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh have exclusive jurisdiction.
