Intellectual Property Notice

ScanPlay™ is a print-to-video platform created in Visakhapatnam, India, by ScanPlay Media Pvt Ltd (founder: Someswara Rao Pyla). It lets anyone make a printed photo play a video: print the photo as usual, and when a phone camera points at the print, the video plays on it — in the browser, with no app to install and no QR code on the print.

1. Trademarks

“ScanPlay”, the ScanPlay logo and the ScanPlay Cam name are trademarks of ScanPlay. Trade mark applications for the ScanPlay word mark and the ScanPlay logo have been filed with the Trade Marks Registry, Government of India. No person may use “ScanPlay”, “Scan Play”, the ScanPlay logo, or any confusingly similar name, logo, domain or app name for a product or service of the same or a similar kind without written permission.

2. The ScanPlay technology

The ScanPlay platform is proprietary. This includes, among other things:

• the single universal ScanPlay Scanner that recognises every customer’s print from one address, using a unified recognition index built on ScanPlay’s servers;
• the ScanPlay Studio, in which a photo and a video are linked, cropped and prepared for printing;
• ScanPlay’s use-based credit system, including server-side recognition of the printed item, per-print reach limits and top-ups;
• expiry, PIN-protected videos and the ScanPlay Partner (distributor and promoter) system.

A patent application covering the ScanPlay method is in process with the Indian Patent Office.

3. Copyright

The source code, software, designs, page layouts, text, graphics, animations, templates, music selections and videos on scanplay.in and in the ScanPlay apps are © 2026 ScanPlay Media Pvt Ltd. All rights reserved. Customers keep the rights to the photos and videos they upload (see the Terms).

4. What is not permitted

• Copying, reproducing, scraping or reverse-engineering the ScanPlay website, studio, scanner, apps or their code.
• Offering a print-to-video service, app or website under the ScanPlay name, or presenting any service as connected to ScanPlay without written authorisation.
• Reselling ScanPlay credits or services except as an authorised ScanPlay Partner under a signed ScanPlay partner agreement.

ScanPlay will take action to protect its rights, including under the Trade Marks Act, 1999, the Copyright Act, 1957 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

5. Authorised partners and licensing

ScanPlay is sold through authorised ScanPlay Partners (distributors and promoters) listed on scanplay.in. Businesses that want to offer printed photos that play video in their city, or to license the ScanPlay technology, can apply to become a partner.

6. Reporting misuse

If you see the ScanPlay name, logo or technology used without authorisation, please write to info@scanplay.in with a link or photo.
